Welcome!
My name is Kecia McGouirk. I am an Art teacher with the Monroe County School System in Forsyth, GA; however, I am originally from and currently reside 20 miles south in Macon, Ga. After teaching high school students for 14 years, I left but stayed in the same school system where I've been teaching middle school, grades 6-8 for the past three years. I received a B.A. in Art and Education with Mercer University
and am currently pursuing a Master's of Education in Instructional Technology with Georgia Southern University. I also just recently completed and received my Online Teaching Endorsement through GSU. This website is a conglomerate of course assignments and the finished products I created throughout my graduate program. Although I have little experience working with virtual teaching and learning, I love technology and like Art, Technology is a great tool for creating. In the classroom, I am familiar with the projector, Smart board, document camera, iPads, iPods, and Web 2.0 tools and encourage students to create PowerPoint’s, Prezis, storyboards, etc. This not only motivates creative and higher-order thinking skills but helps students work independently or collaboratively while building strong self-sufficiency and social skills. Technology is a vital tool in education; therefore, I hope to learn more as I finish working on my GSU graduate degree.
